Young-beom Lee
B.S. Computer Science Education, Korea University (2009)
M.S. Brain and Cognitive Engineering, Korea University (2011)
E-mail: yblee85 (at) kaist.ac.kr
Research interest: Bio-computer convergence and brain image processing
Young-beom Lee was born in 1985, Seoul, Korea. As a child, he was interested in basic computer programming. During his highschool years, he was interested in biology and chemistry. He entered Korea University, Seoul, in 2005 and majored in Computer Science Education, obtaining his Bachelor's degree in Science in 2009. His undergraduate research topic was about the heuristic A* pathfinding algorithm. He also obtained Master's Degree in Brain and Cognitive Engineering at the same university. As a master candidate, he studied CBIR (Content Based Image Retrieval) system, dealing with the data of the drug pill image database. He has been a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Bio and Brain Engineering, KAIST since 2011. He is interested in bio-computer convergence and brain image processing, and in using human fMRI data analysis to diagnose cognitive disorders.

Minseok Kang
B.S. Department of Biochemistry, Yonsei University (2009)
M.S. Department of Bio and Brain Engineering, KAIST (2013)
E-mail: mnskng (at) kaist.ac.kr
Research interest: The effect of modulation of long-range circuit/cell-type specific on large-scale functional connectivity parameters and behavior
Minseok Kang was born in 1985, Chuncheon, Korea. He graduated Anyang Highschool, Kyeonggi province and moved on to major in biochemistry at Yonsei university, Seoul. However, although his undergraduate program focused on molecular techniques dealing with micro-level manipulations of DNA and proteins, his interest shifted towards neuroscience dealing more with changes in circuit level activation, long-range macro-scale functional connectivity and cognitive function by the end of his undergraduate years.
His research interest is about linking microscopic changes in cell-type/circuit/layer specific activation and macroscopic changes in functional connectivity and graph theoretical parameters during behavior. He aims to record macroscopic changes in the neocortex while manipulating specific structures of the brain using optical techniques. His tools of choice are optical imaging techniques such as voltage-sensitive dye imaging (VSDI), intrinsic optical imaging (IOSI) and calcium imaging using two-photon microscopy.
He completed his master's program with work titled 'Mapping intrinsic functional connectivity using large-scale voltage-sensitive dye imaging in anesthetized mice' in 2013.
